The new Chryston Community Hub has been officially opened at a special event in front of pupils, parents and staff.

The £22million state-of-the-art facility is home to Chryston Primary School and our new Community Health Clinic which replaced the Muirhead Clinic.

The brand new £3.65 million state-of-the-art community health clinic in Chryston features 17 clinical rooms over 682 square metres, it provides a variety of community services ranging from midwifery and Health visitors to breastfeeding support and treatment rooms.

Serving more than 27,000 local people, the new clinic replaces Muirhead Clinic which provided a limited number of community health services due to its size and lack of dedicated car parking. It continued to operate during the build process to ensure minimal disruption for patients and service users.

Speaking at the opening, NHS Lanarkshire Chairman Martin Hill said: “The new Chryston Community Hub is very impressive and testament to the close partnership working between NHS Lanarkshire and North Lanarkshire Council.

“The build standard and range of rooms across the community health centre and the school is excellent; it’s clearly a great environment for staff, patients and pupils.

“I know the feedback from patients is very positive. The health centre was purpose built and enables us to house a far wider range of services than the old clinic to truly meet the needs of local people.

“Ultimately, the building showcases the true potential of a community hub. Good health is an integral part of thriving communities and helping people to lead healthier lives. I’m sure the new hub will pay dividends in future and will benefit local people of all ages now and for many years to come.”

Professor Ross McGuffie, chief officer, University Health & Social Care North Lanarkshire, said: “This brand new state-of-the-art health clinic is a significant part of our commitment to provide all community services in people’s local areas through integrated health and social care teams.

“People in and around Chryston now have access to a wonderful modern health clinic that delivers key services in the heart of their community.

“The purpose of this new facility has always been to enable fundamental positive change, not simply the replacement of the previous Muirhead Clinic building and services.”

Following similar successful joint projects with North Lanarkshire Council, the new facility is part of a wider development including the new Chryston Primary School.
